"Garden Chairs" 14"x11"

It was a challenge to do this small painting using the palette knife.  I found this setting in Santa Fe on Canyon Street.  I wanted to do something small and sweet, so this was the perfect composition.

Daily Works

This study was done as a demo at "Insight Gallery" in Fredericksburg Texas, for a fund raiser. the model was sitted in the front of the gallery next to a window with the sun setting.  There was a lot of light flooding in the window and changing rapidly.  She sat for me for about one and one half hours.  I took a photograph and continued to finish the piece in my studio for another hour.  The warm tones really depicted the setting light and danced across her face so amazingly.

After California

It was a long hot drive to the cool California Coast.  I wondered why I chose to go on this trip?  After my "Open Studio Sale" I thought it would be a good time to think about my next body of work for Jackson Hole in September.  That turned out not to be the case. Once the aches and pains of travel set in of sitting too long, eating out, and lack of sleep, I realized this trip was about my getting clear on what has changed since I moved from California to the Hill Country 6 years ago.  Clarity and lack of undo stress.  The

highways were jammed with humanity and the over abundance of Stuff was too much after living a "Simple life" these past years.

Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to have grown up in the canyons of Pacific Palisades in a time when I could explore and enjoy the beauty that was once taken for granted.  All my childhood memories fill my work today.  It was a beautiful time to be living there.

I also had the opportunity of delivering and hanging two paintings to clients which was a special treat.

Now, back in my studio, I have to give myself time to learn more about marketing myself online.  In the future Blogs, I will share my ups and downs and hopeful success.

I hope all of you are enjoying family and friends and staying cool.

Love and Enjoy.  Deborah

After the Show

I have to admit that it was a lot more fun doing my own show than a gallery show.  Feeling that I was in control (an illusion) gave me some satifaction as the selling began.  It was so wonderful to know the people who purchased my art and being able to see where it was going and to have continuing connection with my clients.

Of course there is always something that follows.  This time I think it is stomach bug.  I can feel it coming on. :-(

Next adventure, is a long drive to California with husband, daughter and granddaughter.  It will be a lot cooler, probably cold, and I can take a painting to a client instead of mailing it. Some time away from the easel, and new pictures and galleries to take in.

I have decided to join Daily Painters, and will be sending that link to you shortly.

The latest painting to sale was one from my new series that would have gone to my Jackson hole collection.  Happily it will go to California.

Happy Summer Begins.
